If you dream of a full day trip outside Marrakech, then a day trip to Ouzoud, at the foot of the Middle Atlas, will be the best opportunity to discover real middle atlas Berber life and local culture. By rushing from a height of more than 100 meters the river Ouzoud forms a waterfall, one of the most spectacular natural attractions of Morocco.
Ouzoud Day Trip from Marrakech Highlights :
This one-day trip from Marrakech to visit the falls in Ouzoud is the best day trips from Marrakech, which will allow you to explore the highest waterfalls in North Africa. We start around 8.00 am from your accommodation in Marrakech.
From there we will go to the mountains of the Atlas, not too far from Marrakech (160 Km). After crossing the fields of olive and almonds and dry land, we will reach the waterfall. We will meet a local guide who will take you to explore the waterfalls and the impressive falls over 110 meters above and banging against the rocks creating a fantastic rainbow and a natural magical spectacle.
After the guided hiking tour in ouzoud, you will enjoy a traditional berber tajine in a local restaurant, then go to meet the Barbary macaque/monkeys living in the waterfalls. Then, free time to walk in the paths that surround the falls and around 4:30 PM, we will return to Marrakech.

There are a myriad of shops and restaurants here. Another thing for which you should look out while at Ouzoud Waterfalls are the rainbows. Keep in mind, though, that some of the lookout points are better than others for rainbow spotting. Try the one close to the restaurants.
The final thing to see at Ouzoud Waterfalls are the monkeys. Yep, there are Barbary apes here. There were even babies! The chance to photograph a beautiful mom and baby pairing was the second highlight of the day, here.
So, overall, while Ouzoud Waterfall can be pretty busy and it is a bit far from Marrakech, it is still a good option for a day trip from the city. The falls are lovely and if you’re like me, any chance to see the beauty of Mother Nature is a good thing!
