However, what made our trip so special was... read more our amazing driver Mahmoud. We began the trip on a good note as Mahmoud was timely and very polite upon arrival. Luckily, as the trip progressed we became family. Mahmoud was always on time, in a great mood, willing to help with luggage, and excited to show us around his country. He went beyond his job responsibilities to ensure we were taken care of at all times. He communicated efficiently with our various city guides and hotel/riad receptionists and got us where we needed to go without any stress. He even stopped to help my mother get cough drops as she fell sick on our trip. Also, his driving was impeccable. We always felt secure and safe in his vehicle.
Additionally, Mahmoud was a basically a tour guide himself. Wherever we drove, Mahmoud provided very good information about the city/village. He was incredibly engaging but not in an overwhelming/unwarranted way. We learned so much from Mahmoud. If we didn’t have him as our driver I believe our trip would have been much different. If you choose this service, request Mahmoud. We were so lucky that somehow the world brought us together in Morocco. He is now family! PS: Mahmoud is also an incredible musician. Everything was well organized for us and it was just the right amount of time to see beautiful landscapes, cultural sights, and the dunes of Merzouga—truly a perfect itinerary from start to finish.

Our driver/ tour guide Mahmoud was the absolute BEST—please request him for your tour!!! He was so kind, friendly, informative, and made our experience 100x better. He took the time to thoroughly explain all of the sites that we stopped at, immersed us into the local culture, played arabic/berber music for us, and he made sure we were comfortable and having a great time the entirety of our trip!

The scenic drive with views of the Atlas Mountains, the stops at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou Village, a UNESCO world heritage site (which was straight out of a movie), the Rose Valley and Berber villages—were some of the highlights of our trip even before were got to the Dunes of Merzouga Desert.

Our stay in the luxury tents in the Desert was comfortable and clean. It was set up so nicely and our night in the desert was truly unforgettable. We got to ride camels into the desert at sunset then got to dance and sing around the fire at night. We woke up for sunrise and it was truly unreal to see. Overall, my friends and I had such an amazing experience and would highly highly recommend this tour!!

We saw Marrakech, Merzouga, Ouzarate, Fez, Chefchaouen, Dades Valley, Volubilis, and many other spots between. Everything was beyond our expectations. We live in Los Angeles and travel the world (spent over 110 nights in a hotel last year) so we are not novice travelers and our expectations are high. The service, the accommodations, food, all terrific. Morocco First Gate was the absolute best choice for my husband and me.

Mahmoud drove us in a beautiful Mercedes van that was very comfortable. He welcomed us like family and even brought us into his home in the Rose Valley which was a highlight for us. His kindness and generosity throughout really embodied the Moroccan spirit that we felt during our entire trip.

Another note on accommodations: Riad Yasmine (Marrakech), Dar Jasmine (Chefchaouen), and the crown jewel of Eden Boutique Hotel in the Dades Valley were all FANTASTIC experiences. Eden Boutique is brand new and I will not be surprised to see it on top luxury boutique hotel awards in the next few years. We upgraded our experience to ‘luxury’ accommodations everywhere we went and we were thrilled with everything.

The Sahara was beautiful and I would recommend making it a point to visit. Fez was my favorite city for its culture but there was not one place I did not enjoy- it was all spectacular.

We had city tour guides for Fez (Said) and Chefchaouen (Hazim) and I would recommend requesting them too. Their English was superb and they shared so much of their beautiful cities with us. Truly made our experience above and beyond.

We plan to book a tour again for the coast next time we come. Mahmoud is now like our family and we are sad to depart. Fantastic experience- 11/10!
